the challenge

Consumers face the issue of keeping track of workouts, which can become repetitive and tedious. With numerous saved workout routines from TikTok, locating all the videos on the camera roll can be challenging, extending gym time unnecessarily.

the outcome

After extensive exploration and brainstorming, a concept prototype called 'Kettleball' was developed. It's a fitness app for the Apple Watch designed to simplify workout sessions for gym-goers. The project aims to make gym time more efficient and successful.

Kettleball is a concept prototype created by John Sanchez completed within a span of 13 weeks as part of a term project for an interaction design course at York University.

Want to create a workout routine without needing to rewatch all the TikTok videos you have saved on your camera roll? Input the workout once by simply choosing the muscle groups you will be targeting and a goal. Want to access the same workout the next time? Simply access the saved workouts and let the watches haptics lead your next workouts. To make your workouts exciting, send an invite to your freidns and families and compete for the leaderboards weekly.

brand identity

The branding is minimal yet striking, ensuring it is recognizable without being too flashy. The logo resembles an actual kettleball, symbolizing a connection to the gym.

onboarding & integration

Setting up your workouts is simplified with Kettleball. Users can easily integrate their statistics from any fitness app into Kettleball, streamlining the onboarding process and the collection of user information. New workout routines can be created by adding new exercises, or users can explore all the pre-saved workouts available in Kettleball's library.

recorded routines

Once users record their workouts, they can easily repeat the same routine for the targeted muscle group during subsequent sessions. The Apple Watch’s haptic feedback feature will now lead you when to start the next set or when to rest, eliminating the need to search for the routines you have saved on your camera roll.

social & competitive workouts

Enhance your workout experience by engaging with friends and aiming for the leaderboard on a daily or weekly basis. Users can customize goals, whether it's achieving the most steps, burning the most calories, lifting heavier sets, or other fitness targets. These goals can be set to be reached either daily or weekly with friends or groups, fostering a sense of competition and enjoyment. Compete for the top spots on the leaderboard and earn badges as a reward for your achievements.
